OHMS Hygiene can provide noise surveyors for all workplaces that are approved Noise Officers under the Department of Mines and Petroleum.
Detailed occupational noise surveys are conducted in accordance with:
- the Australian Standard AS/NZS 1269 : 2005, Occupational noise management and assessment of noise emission and exposure; and
- the Code of Practice for Managing Noise at Workplaces, 2002.
Personal sound exposure measurements (PSEM) or noise dosimetry is carried out to determine the personal exposure of workers to understand if further controls are required to reduce the noise levels. The PSEM or noise dosimetry results can then be used to determine appropriate controls. It can also be used to determine what type of hearing protective devices (ear plugs or ear muffs) would be appropriate for the specific tasks or areas where a person worked.
OHMS Hygiene conducts noise dosimetery in line with AS/NZS 1269.1 Occupational noise management – Measurement and assessment of noise immission and exposure and is conducted to evaluate compliance with applicable legislative requirements.
